- David Malluche
David Malluche worked as a doctoral researcher and lecturer at the Chair of Islamic Studies from October 2021 to March 2022. From April 2022 to June 2024, he coordinated the ICA project in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence and supported the development of the database.

Julia Inderst supported the ICA project in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence as a student assistant from October 2021 to June 2024 by maintaining the database and assisting with translation and documentation work.
- Fulera Issaka-Toure
Fulera Issaka-Toure is a religious studies scholar at Legon University in Accra, Ghana. She holds a PhD at BIGSAS at the University of Bayreuth with the title "Islamic construction of gender in Accra : the role of Islamic religious authorities in mediating marital conflicts" from 2017. From August 2020 to September 2022, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Chair of Islamic Studies with her project “Gender and Marriage among Beninese Muslims in Germany” which was funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. From October 2022 to September 2023, she worked as a lecturer at the Chair of Islamic Studies.

Elias Kysely supported the ICA project in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence as a student assistant from November 2022 to April 2023 and from July 2023 to December 2023 by digitising documents from the research data collection "Islam in Africa".

Mohlham Abo Hassan supported the ICA project in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence with his technical and linguistical expertise from October 2021 to September 2022.

Ahmed Ayong was a lecturer at the chair from October 2013 to September 2014 and from October 2015 to December 2016. From March 2018 to February 2020 he was a postdoctoral fellow with his own Fritz Thyssen Project with his project "Sheikh Yusuf al-Dijwi (1870-1946): Intra-Muslim Controversies in the Twentieth Century Middle East".

Jamil M. Abun-Nasr represented Islamic Studies with a focus on Africa already since 1980 within the field of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth. In 1985 he was appointed on the newly established chair of Islamic Studies and represented it until his retirement in 1997. More information
