Elias Kysely
Elias Kysely supported the ICA project as a student assistant from November 2022 to April 2023 and from July 2023 to December 2023 by digitising documents from the research data collection "Islam in Africa".

Molham Abo Hassan, B.A.
Mohlham Abo Hassan supported the ICA project with his technical and linguistical expertise from October 2021 to September 2022.

PD Dr. Ismail Warscheid,
Ismail Warscheid is historian at the CNRS in Paris. His research interests include the cultural and social history of West Africa (Maghreb, Sahara and Sahel), the history of Muslim scholarship and Islamic law, and early modern manuscript cultures. In 2019 he was awarded the Bronze Medal of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) for his scientific achievements. From April 2019 to March 2022 he represented the chair and worked on his project Negotiating the Social Relevance of Religious Knowledge: Muslim Scholarship and Islamic Law in the Pre-Modern Sahara, 1600-1800.

Sennen Gagnol
Sennen Gagnol supported the chair in 2020 as student assistant. From October 2020 to September 2021 he supported the ICA project with translation tasks.

Dr. Ahmed Khalid Ayong
Ahmed Ayong was research assistant at the chair from October 2013 to September 2014 and from October 2015 to December 2016. From March 2018 to February 2020 he was affiliated as postdoc with his own project.

Roman Loimeier worked as research assistant in the SFB 214 Identität in Afrika / Teilprojekt B5 (leadership: Prof. Dr. Abun-Nasr) from 1985 to 1990. From 1991 to 2002 he was assistant at the chair.

Prof. Dr. Jamil M. Abun-Nasr
Jamil M. Abun-Nasr represented Islamic Studies with a focus on Africa already since 1980 within the field of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth. In 1985 he was appointed on the newly established chair of Islamic Studies and represented it until his retirement in 1997. More information
